VOICES of Acadiana
The mission of VOICES of Acadiana is to advocate for victims of domestic violence by actively working towards systems change, domestic violence education and awareness, and survivor outreach in order to break the generational cycle of abuse in families. VOICES of Acadiana was formed in 2019 and is an organization of Faith House of Acadiana and the Family Justice Center of Acadiana. It is led by survivors working to break the silence by empowering survivors to take a stand against domestic violence. Use Your Voice = Break the Silence
Currently, VOICES has two members, Brandie Stelly and Kirby Banks, who were chosen to do a documentary based on their 2019 Amnesty International article. Our two members, along with Crystal Scrantz from the Family Justice Center of Acadiana, will travel to Washington DC later this month. There they will meet with Deeyah Khan, Emmy award-winning documentary producer, to participate in her upcoming documentary about domestic violence.
