To minimize unnecessary variations in care, the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), in concert with a broad range of clinical, legal, forensic, judicial, advocate, and other organizations, has developed the following consensus approach to assist in the care of the patient with the complaint of sexual assault or sexual abuse.
